Animal Lover Climate Vegan

Can you call yourself an animal lover if you’re not vegan? Many people do, but why is that?

Why love one, but eat the other?

In her presentation “Carnism: The Psychology of Eating Meat“, Dr. Melanie Joy talks about the disconnect that is within all non-vegans that enables them to love some animals yet pay for others to be needlessly killed.

As a species, we love animals. We love our pets, we love seeing wildlife in nature, we take our children to petting zoos, we feel outrage when we read stories about animal abuse. So why do we select a few animals out of the thousands of species and decide not to love, but to rape, kill and eat those animals instead?

Dr. Joy ascertains it is because of Carnism: The invisible belief system, or ideology, that conditions people to eat certain animals.

In different cultures different animals are considered edible. Some cultures eat dogs, whilst some cultures don’t eat cows. We have been conditioned since infancy to think that eating certain animals is Normal, Necessary and Natural, whilst eating others is abhorrent.

The truth is they are all the same. We are all the same. We are all animals.

We invite you to watch the presentation by Dr. Joy for without awareness there is no free choice.

Close the gap in your consciousness, break the disconnect!
